Starting our Assets for the Prototype

I've started with our art assets for our prototype "Fly Boy" (title soon to be changed to something that will fit our game). I've created two tiles for roads (I need to texture them). With these two tiles, we can create our roads for our city by recycling them! How wonderful, no? I've also created an old-school TV for the first part of our game. It's simple enough to model, but it's a prototype after all! I'll be getting more into detail with the art later, especially when it comes to the concept art.

Need a Theme

Our team found a game in development that is exactly what we wanted our game to be. So, we've decided to just come up with a different theme. Our team will discuss it today and choose a solid theme. Art wise, it's been difficult since we don't have a theme. So, hopefully after today I'll start posting some art assets I've been doing. Nonetheless I've been going through the backlog and looked at what simple objects we wanted as assets and have started creating those. Right now I'm working on a ring for the player to fly through. Simple, but right now I'm more interested on how to put it into Unity and make it work in there.

Other than that, I've been looking through the DAZ 3D store to find assets and other things that can help me make conceptual art or that we could use in the game.

Fly Boy

The team and I have officially started our work on 'Fly Boy'. Right now, we're going to research flight maneuvers that base jumpers and sky divers use so that our programmer can start working on those. Then the other artist and I will work out concept design and then I will model the final design (with the help of DAZ 3D). We'll also create a sample level design that we'll want to use for the prototype using the Unity topographer tool. That will just be for design, but it will help us visualize it better when we make it in Maya.

PS:

We're going to IFly Ogden this Friday to go fly in a tube for research!

Another Semester Done, Another One To Go

It's a start of a new semester. We've created pitches for games that we would like to work on for the next couple of semesters. Seven were chosen, and I am on Adam's game, Flyboy. We will start making our prototypes. I hope everything goes well. I haven't the slightest clue as to what game I'm working on, but we'll see!
